Greetings from a distance!

We are several days into California’s shelter in place order in response to the spread of COVID-19. Like other businesses, I’m unable to take on new sessions for the near future. It’s hard to be home. It’s hard to be unable to work. It’s hard to not know what the future holds. I know we’re all dealing with these same feelings right now.

My heart aches for businesses and individuals impacted by layoffs and closures. I’ve been receiving emails daily from local businesses humbly attempting to raise funds with gift cards or future membership sales just to be able to survive this shut down. I hope that this crisis will reignite our dedication to supporting local businesses.

As this was all beginning to unfold last week, my son said, “Someday I will tell my children all about what’s happening.” This very well may be a defining part of our and our children’s lives. I hope we’re all able to look back and feel good about our decisions. There will inevitably be stories of painful loss, but I hope we are also able to create stories of resiliency, generosity, kindness, and growth.
