California Maternity, Family, and Brand Photographer — San Anselmo — Marin County
The recipe for a successful in home family photo session is surprisingly simple. Window light. That’s about it. Forget the pressure to have a perfect home or designer decor. You don’t even need to stress about extra tidying. Give me some window light, and I’ll do the rest.
When I arrive for an in home session, I take a quick trip around the house to assess lighting. I’m looking for nice even light. This is something we’ll take into consideration when planning the timing for your in-home session as well. Most often, the best indoor lighting happens in the morning.
In home sessions are always my favorite- especially with younger children. They can be casual, intimate, and authentic. Kids are in their element which often brings out the best natural smiles and lets their personalities shine.
I adore the simplicity of this session which was shot entirely on Kodak Professional Portra400 film and developed by The Find Lab. I suggest every family schedule an in-home session at some point in their children’s early years. It’s a great way to document childhood in an intimate, authentic way.
